Maruti Celerio X

Due to rapid growing population and urbanisation, Indian car market is quite different from rest of the world. To cater to these rising demands, automobile manufacturers are coming up with new segment cars. One such car is Celerio X which has been derived from the hatchback Celerio.

It will sport black cladding all over the lower body with a raised stance and increased ground clearance. Celerio will not be the only such car in India. In fact, many other cars such as Etios Cross, Polo Cross and I20 Active are available that have undergone crossover treatment and have recorded moderate response from the audience. Tiago Activ and Figo Cross are the other two cars looking to join this club.

Celerio has been an efficient performer for Maruti Suzuki and the crossover is expected to further boost its success. Celerio X will create a new low-cost segment in the hatchback-crossover space. Celerio was the first car to offer ‘AGS’ technology (Auto Gear Shift) and the Celerio X is believed to carry the same. The noticeable changes in the Celerio X apart from the black cladding are alloy wheels, increased cabin and boot space and an increase in Ground Clearance probably by 15-20 mm.

  • Crossover based on a small hatchback, Celerio X will create its own segment
  • Enhanced exteriors and interiors over the regular Celerio
  • Sporty colour combinations and design elements

Maruti Celerio X Design and Equipment

The styling of Celerio X will be the only differentiating factor from the normal Celerio. The front grille is wider and sporty colour combinations with black painted ORVMs with turn indicators will make Celerio X quite attractive. Apart from these the car will get roof rails, silver finish garnish on bumpers, bulged out wheel arches, rear mounted spoiler, multi spoke alloy wheels to enhance the look and make it bolder. The fog lamp section is boomerang shaped and could prove to be a hit or miss design element in an otherwise nice-looking crossover.

The mechanicals of Celerio X will be carried over from the regular variants.

Maruti Celerio X Comparison

Celerio X will enjoy monopoly until Tiago Activ and Figo Cross are launched. There are few hatchbacks based crossovers such as Polo Cross, Etios Cross and i20 Active but are based on more expensive hatchbacks than Celerio. Till then Celerio X will rival against Kwid and KUV NXT.
