Renault Captur Preview

Renault’s India portfolio is quite limited. In order to expand it, Renault has decided to bring the ‘’CAPTUR’’ into India. It is being marketed as the country’s first premium SUV with strong crossover DNA. The CAPTUR has been quite successful in Russia, Argentina and Brazil. Now whether it will taste success in India only time will tell but looking at the designing it might do well. Renault is banking upon CAPTUR to deliver since other than KWID, there aren’t many buyers for the other offerings from the French carmaker. The competition in this segment is fierce and Renault has taken its own time to bring this into the battle. The car will be specifically made for emerging markets built on M0 platform, the same on which Duster has been built but is different from the one sold in Europe (KAPTUR).

Renault Captur Comparison

Once launched Captur will face stiff competition from the likes of Hyundai Creta and the recently launched Jeep Compass.

Hyundai Crete is an elegant and smart looking compact SUV with nicely matched design elements giving it a rugged character. Its feature laden and boasts of being the Indian Car of The Year(ICOTY) in its inaugural year. (2015) Though believed to be overpriced, it still manages to win hearts of the customer. The lack of off-road capabilities even in the top model is a setback to an otherwise amazing product.

Jeep Compass is a sturdily built SUV from the iconic American brand Jeep. It’s basically a scaled down version of the Grand Cherokee. It has a huge following in India, particularly among the enthusiasts. The car reflects finesse from every aspect be it interiors or exteriors. The car has a huge potential in India due to the attractive price tag it carries.

Renault Capture Spotted

Renault Captur is already available for booking at a price of ₹25,000. The India bound CAPTUR has been spotted doing testing rounds in Brazil. Renault started testing the CAPTUR in India by the end of 2016. The car has been completely unveiled even before its launch, the only thing which remains to be seen during the launch is the price.
